A wholesale license is a legal document that allows a people to buy products in bulk and resell them in retail having the retail license.

Conditions of Wholesale License 

  1. Area: Shall not be less than 10 sq m. 
  2. Storage: Necessary to have a Refrigerator and air conditioner in the premises because some drugs including vaccines are needed to stored in the fridge. 
  3. Skillful Staff: The sale can be made either by a Registered Pharmacist or another skillful Staff who must be graduate with 1 year experience in drugs, approved by the drug control department. 
  4. License should be displayed in a Proper Place. 
  5. PurchaseThe drug shall be purchased from a licensed dealer or manufacturer. 
  6. Supply/Salesupply of drugs shall be made on a cash memo. Carbon copies of the same should be kept for at least 3 years of the date of entry. 
  7. Maintenance of Record: Shall Maintain the records of purchase, and produce all the records and registered during inspection. Records must be kept for at least 2 years of last date of entry. 
  8. Inspection book: Should be maintained in Form 35. 
  9. Expired Drug: After Expiry, Physician's Sample and Drugs meant for Govt. supply, shall not be stocked or supplied. 
  10. Schedule X drugs: A separate record shall be maintained for the supply and purchase of Schedule X drugs, the copies should be provided to the licensing Committee. 
  11. No sale of any drug should be made to a person not holding the license to sell or distribute the drugs.  

List of Permitted Colour as per D & C act. 

No drug shall contain a colour other than that specified bellow:
  1. Natural Colours: Annatto, Carotene, Chlorophyll, Curcumin, Red oxide of Iron, Yellow oxide of Iron, Black Oxide of Iron, Titanium Dioxide.
  2. Artificial Colours: Caramel, Riboflavin. 
  3. Coal Tar Colours: Quinazarine Green SS, Fast Green FCF, Eosin G, Sudan III, Indigo Carmine, Brilliant Blue FCF, Orange G, Naphthol Blue-black 
  4. Aluminium or calcium salts of any other water soluble colours listed above. 
  5. The label of the container having the permitted colours should indicate the name of the colour used.
